PhD Cássia Rocha Pompeu

Research assistant in the CSIDlab at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH), HCE member since 2024.

My research topics focus on the intersection of environmental sciences, ecology, and health:

  • How Nature-based Solutions (NbS) enhance biodiversity, climate change resilience, health and well-being, while also addressing their associated disservices.
  • The interrelationships between humans, animals, and the environment in the context of emerging infectious diseases, viewed through a One Health perspective.

More about me

Why I joined the HCE

My main motivation for joining HCE was to build a strong research network, connect with researchers from diverse fields, and broaden my horizons. I believe that these elements are key to developing impactful research and innovation in the environmental sciences field.

My highlights so far

Participating in the events and discussions promoted by the HCE allowed me to connect with HCE members, learn from their experiences across various fields, and gain invaluable insights. These interactions have deepened my understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of environmental sciences and, as an early-stage researcher, have motivated me to build collaborations to address key global environmental challenges.

My key partners

I have had the opportunity to collaborate with members of the HCE network, particularly in the fields of environmental health, climate change resilience, and action. Internationally, I have worked with researchers from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Queen Mary University of London, Khon Kaen University in Thailand, among others. These collaborations have played a significant role in shaping my path as a young scientist and broadening my perspectives.
